Hi & Thank you for your interest in this hard-to-find Grether Lantern!
This is in great vintage condition; it's been stored in a non-smoking home since I purchased it in 2010. The lantern is in very good original condition, the original leather strap handle is missing. The inside is clean and complete and includes the original connecting wires and wire nuts for the battery is needed. The bulb is a replacement, the glass is intact. Made of cast aluminum, it is in good condition, glass is original and intact, strap is gone. There is loss of paint over course of use, dust, soiled, etc. It is untested. The battery is not included This is becoming a very rare and hard to find lantern, item is as found. Paint appears to be original no sign of refurbishment. The battery compartment gasket is in place and appears to be original based on paint overspray. All the screws appear to be original and intact. What appears to be the original wire nuts are included within the battery compartment. These lanterns were made in Ohio and were among the first battery operated firefighter specific lanterns. These lanterns can be seen in related firefighting / firehouse images from 1913 on affixed to firetrucks and carried by hand. This is a highly collectible light makes a GREAT addition to fireman's, firefighter's collection or lantern collections.
