Vintage Brass Watch Fob Northwest The steam shovel depicted on the fob is probably the Northwest Model 80-D ; arguably the most iconic and long lasting design to ever roll from the workshops at Green Bay , Wisconsin. A Rhode Island construction equipment company is on the back, in raised lettering : " Joseph M. Taylor Corp. Construction Equipment Sales - Rentals - Service 1 Taylor Drive East Providence , R. I. East Providence 1-4800 " Worn leather strap with metal buckle. ( see the photos ) Carefully Packed for Shipment to the Buyer ----------------- Historical Information Northwest Engineering Company manufactured heavy construction machinery , draglines , shovels , and cranes in Green Bay , Wisconsin. Founded in 1917, by the Hartman-Greiling Company , of Chicago , the yard shifted to manufacturing cranes in 1920. By 1927, Northwest was the second largest manufacturer of excavators in terms of sales volume. Very ruggedly designed, Northwest shovels gained a reputation of being tough machines, able to dig anything short of solid rock. Northwest continued as a crane manufacturer until 1983, when it was taken over by Terex Corp. It closed in 1990.
