DATED 1882 BOOK ELECTRIC LIGHTING w/ INSTRUCTIONS FOR PROPER INSPECTION OF EQUIPMENT BY HENRY MORTON - INCLUDING EARLY 1st FORM EDISON DISCUSSION & EQUIPMENT This book was printed and released in the year of THOMAS A. EDISON'S introduction of his first screw base socket lighting systems powered from his Pearl Street NYC installation that went operational in on SEPTEMBER 4, 1882. The FACT that this book fails to discuss the Pearl Street installation clearly shows that it was published months BEFORE the SEPTEMBER 4, 1882 Pearl Street installation went operational. NO DYNAMOS are shown that would have been installed at Pearl Street - as they would have been of the larger form JUMBO DYNAMOS (which totaled SIX units) that were much much larger and of a different form than the original tiny "TIGHT WAISTED MARY-ANNE" DYNAMO as is shown in the 1882 book on offer in a scant engraving. The early first form Sigmund Bergmann designed Edison wood fuse blocks are shown for the first time in this 1882 book as well - a book issued by the NEW YORK BOARD OF FIRE UNDERWRITERS. This is a very important and scarce book as it represents probably one of the first such definitive book at the dawn of modern electrical lighting,Fully illustrated with fine engravings totaling 36 detailed images - one very other page essentially.Measures 5 3/4" x 8 1/4" in size. Consists of 65 pages plus index pages. The paper tape on the spine can be soaked off carefully and will reveal a perfect binding that is not damaged or worn. The white paper tape was placed on the spine by the library this book was in so as to be able to write the title and DATE on the spine and make it readable - that's all. Over-all finish shows scratches and general wear that is consistent with age and use. Please see all photos as they are part of the description. No pages torn, water stained or foxed. End leaves have tiny 1/4" - 1/2" water stains along top of same. Only top and bottom tips of spine with some wear.
